Founded by Stéphane Lacroix-Gachet, a designer whose portfolio includes watches for DeWitt, Hamilton and Rado, the company gets its name from karoshi, or ???, Japanese for “death from overwork”. According to the brand, it’s a nod to those who work to the limits, including Mr Lacroix-Gachet.
Karoshi recruited Le Cercle des Horloger for the construction and the movement. Founded by an alumnus of Christophe Claret’s complications workshop, Le Cercle des Horloger SA, or CHSA, is a complications specialist which has built tourbillons (and double tourbillons) for brands like Corum and Ralph Lauren.
